Guide to dining out in Toronto

Here are my suggestion to dining out in Toronto.

If you enjoy eating Toronto is for you! This city has something for everyones appetite. Dining in Toronto, is an international experience all of it's own. You can indulge in American, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Thia, Greek, French, Asian and any other type of food you can imagine.

Fine Dining

1) Patris Restaurant: A very cozy restaurant with wood and brick layered walls.

White linen tablecloths and fancy folded napkins. Prices are reasonable, reservations are suggested but not required. They offer Greek dishes, American, seafood and to my pleasant surprise vegetarian platters and of course pasta. I wouldn't recommend you bring the children to this restaurant it's more of a romantic dinner for two type place.

2) The 360 Restaurant at the CN Tower: This restaurant is 1,100 feet off the ground overlooking the city. It's a beautiful view at night. This is an exquisite dining experience and very pricey, offering a large selection of different cultural cuisine. Again not a place to bring the children. Most definitely a wonderful dining experience for a couple.

Family Dining

Family style restaurants are easy to find. They line Yonge Street. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

1) Hernando's Hideway: Casual dining, large menu, affordable prices, child's menu and family friendly.

2) Golden Flame Restaurant: Casual, large menu, affordable and they serve breakfast all day. They also have a child's menu and are family friendly.

Italain Dining

1) Mistura: A lovely dining room with hardwood floors and tall backed, cushion chairs fit for a king and queen. Moderately priced, they offer an assortment of traditional and unique Italian dishes. Suitable for older children/teens.

2) Amore Trahori: On the Yonge Street strip, two story restaurant with large windows offering a nice view. Pasta and pizza is their specialty. Reasonably priced and family friendly.

With so many fine Toronto restaurants to choose from, I'm sure you'll find the perfect ones for your taste and budget.

Popular restaurants in Toronto, Canada

Here are the GUIDE TO where to eat in Toronto! With hundreds and hundreds of restaurants to choose from, even as a native of Toronto, it's hard to pick the best of the best!

Most visitors will probably be staying in the downtown core, so I'll try to recommend restaurants easy to get to for the average visitor. Restaurants are categorized by genre (one or two for each), and please note the address, phone number (where available)and price chart.

Price rating systems are as follows:
* - cheap! $3-$10 for a meal.
* - $11-20 for a meal.
* - $21-$30 for a meal.
* - check before you sit down! more than $30 for a meal.
(alcoholic drinks, extra!)

FAMILY FARE:

Mr. Greenjeans - *
220 Yonge Street, Toronto Eaton Centre Toronto ON M5B 2H1
(416) 979-1212
10am-11pm
Casual dining experience for the whole family, located on the fourth floor of the Eaton's Centre, across from the doors out to Dundas Square. Several salads to choose from, wings, burgers, steaks, sandwiches, pasta, seafood, some asian dishes ... LOTS to choose from. Gigantic refillable soft drinks! Big portions. Fast and friendly service.

360 - The restaurant at the CN Tower *
301 Front Street West , Toronto ON M5V2T6
(416) 362-5411
Call for times!
You MUST make reservations before eating here or you are taking your chances. It's a super cool dining experience as the restaurant rotates at the observation level of the CN Tower. The meals are delicious - chicken, beef, seafood, vegetarian. However, it is extremely pricey. For two adults and one child at lunch we paid $140, without alcohol. If you want to splurge, this is the place!

MIXED ASIAN FOOD

Spring Rolls *
40 Dundas Street West, Toronto, ON, M5G2C2
(416)585-2929
11am-11pm (noon-11pm on Sundays)

Rol San * to *
323 Spadina Avenue , Toronto ON M5T2E9
(416) 977-1128
11am-3am
This is my all time favorite Chinese restaurant in Toronto. The Won Ton soup is to die for! You can get a big bowl for under $8 which will leave you full! This restaurant offers Dim Sum on Sundays and before 3pm on most days. I recommend the Singapore Noodles, General Tao chicken, Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings and Crispy Ginger Beef. Huge portions, great prices, and awesome service! It's a great place to go after a night out on the town. If you walk in and it looks full, don't leave! They have an even bigger dining hall at the back of the building. Two

people can gorge themselves for under $30. Note: A large bowl of soup feeds about 6 people, 2 bowls each. So, you might want to go for the small or medium!

Pho Hung * to *
200 Bloor Street West , Toronto ON M5S1T8
(416) 963-5080
9:30am-11pm
Awesome Vietnamese restaurant, just across from Rol San, at on of the many entrances into Kensington Market. A large bowl of beef brisket and noodles soup (I usually get a small for $3.75)

costs $5.50. The menu has over 100 items ranging from rice and noodles, to stir-fry, to appetizers, to soup. I recommend the Mango milkshake! This is the best place in town to go for fresh, delicious food which will fill you up for less than you'd pay at McDonalds. Note: Remember to bring cash. With everything so cheap, it's the only payment method they accept!

MEXICAN

Hernando's Hideaway * to *
545 Yonge Street , Toronto ON M4Y1Y5
(416) 929-3629
11am-1am
Located right off of great shopping on Yonge Street, Hernando's is a must-go! Great authentic mexican food, awesome decor and great drinks! Fortunately it is within stumbling distance of most major Toronto hotels! My son loves the Enchiladas. I recommend the Fajitas! Don't forget to finish off with some fried ice cream!

Tortilla Flats * to *
11am-1am
458 Queen Street West , Toronto ON M5V2A8

Huge portions, huge menu ... right in the heart of trendy shopping ... it's a must go! I really, REALLY like their chimichangas and quesidillas! Free tortillas and dip while you wait! (Ladies, look across the road and to your right - LUSH is a great place to buy organic soaps and bath products! Gamers, after dinner, walk east on the same side of the street is Silver Snail, the best game and collectible shop in Toronto!)

ITALIAN

Old Spaghetti Factory * to *
54 The Esplanade , Toronto ON M5E1A6
(416) 864-9761
11am-9pm
I admit, this may not be the BEST Italian food in Toronto, however, you should not miss seeing the Old Spaghetti Factory. Don't get me wrong, the food is still very good! But the best thing about this restaurant is it has awesome decor, great prices, great for kids! Check out the old carousel, or sit in a box-car to eat!

Toronto has 177 downtown Italian restaurants, at the end of this article, I'll give a link to all of the restaurants in Toronto!

INDIAN Cuisine

Rated 5 stars by NOW magazine. (Now is Toronto's free magazine which lists everything from club bands to restaurants to local events!) This restaurant offers a $9.95, 25 dish buffet at lunch, and a full menu service for dinner! The restaurant specializes in food from Southern India. I recommend the Tikka Masala.

ODDS & ENDS!

Okonomi House Restaurant * to *

(416) 925-6176
11:30am-10pm (closes at 8pm on Sundays)

Sneaky Dee's * to *
431 College Street , Toronto ON M5T1T1
(416) 603-3090
24 hours!
More for the adults, however children are allowed during the day. Sneaky's is a sort of divey band-bar with awesome food. Tuesday night is 1/2 price Fajita night. Best Fajita's in town! Also I recommend the Kitchen Sink Nacho's! At College & Spadina. The restaurant also offers 24-hour breakfast.

Toronto Airport Hotels

Airport hotels in Toronto are of four kinds: luxury, standard, budget and discount. This categorization makes it very easy to find one that is right for you. Moreover, there is a wide selection of hotels at or near the Toronto airport, which offer the same facilities as any other hotel located in Toronto, such as an indoor pool, gymnasium, bar restaurant, indoor parking and many others. Many of these hotels require prior booking of rooms and, for the traveler’s convenience, this must be done online.

Hotels are located across from Pearson International and close to Woodbine racetrack and casino and the International center. Some hotels close to Pearson International Airport offer deals in conjunction with airlines, called ‘stay and fly’ packages.

Missisauga is another location, with easy access to most key highways and 15 minutes from the airport and from the city itself. If one is looking for some luxury close to the airport, it is also available.

Here is my thought about Airport Hotels in Toronto.

Luxury hotels are located in the prime Toronto airport area. Most of them will offer free shuttle service to the airport. Within a few steps away from these hotels, visitors will find a wide selection of restaurants and other attractions, including shopping. Close to Pearson International Airport are the Lionhead Golf Course, indoor and outdoor shopping malls, night clubs and so on. Hotels situated close to the golf course are also very popular because they are also close to other attractions in the area such as Brampton Center, Whitewater Kingdom, Square One and Hershey Center, to name a few.

Discount rates can be negotiated through the airline itself in some instances. Airlines are a very good resource for finding good deals on hotel rooms, and often they offer the package as part of the ticket. A fair amount of research will have to go into finding these deals, as they are usually advertised online. Most hotels close to the Toronto airport will have access from the different airport terminals, with shuttle service as well.

Toronto Hotels - To Serve You the Best

My thought about Toronto Hotels.

Toronto, the largest city of Canada, is located on northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. Being an economic capital of Canada, it is considered a global city and one of the top financial cities in the world. It has high standard of living and friendlier attitude to diversity. It is rated as one of the world's most livable cities and most expensive city of Canada. It is the city of high rise buildings. It experience moderate climate due to location in the south and near to Lake Ontario. All these features made Toronto one of the topmost tourists' destinations in the world, entertaining around 4 million tourists every year.

In order to make provision for accommodation of these tourists, Toronto hotels have lent the helping hand in this regard. They have offered wide array of networks ranging from star luxury hotels to cheap hotels in Toronto. The proximity of hotels to the subway and surface transport is a major consideration while looking for descent and affordable hotel accommodation. In addition to it, there are some international Toronto airport hotels that offer world class accommodation. So, one can find all sort of staying places to suit his taste and budget.

Toronto hotels are comfortable and sumptuous. They feature wide variety of facilities and services, ranging from spa to golf course, shops, lounges, fitness center, beauty treatments and business centers. Such hotels are world of pleasure, where personal attention and services exceeds all expectations. Some of the main tourists' attractions that are responsible for generation of income for these hotels owners are:-

  • Black Creek Pioneer Village- it is an historic site in Toronto. It is a recreation of life. Historians generally visit the place with the hope of exploring the city. it plays host to various special events. Some of the main activities include Fiddlers contest, craft demonstration, spring fair etc...
  • Bowmansville zoo- this zoo has been many awards winner for outstanding achievements. It play significant role in conservational education and supplying Hollywood with some of the world's finest animal actors.

Canada's Largest City

Here is my suggestion when you visit Toronto, Canada.

Toronto is a pleasantly cosmopolitan city of fine modern buildings (like the CN Tower and downtown core), a number of interesting old ones (Casa Loma and Fort York) and a vibrant night and cultural life. Like all of Canada, it's clean, safe and filled with trees. Raccoons and possums are as much your neighbours here as the folks next door, sometimes even more so. Regular neighbours, for example, don't rifle through your garbage bins quite so often.

Except for the downtown core with its skyscrapers, the city doesn't feel overwhelming as many large cities do, and just offshore, in Lake Ontario, the Toronto islands provide a quiet harbour for sailboats and acres of parkland, as well as a great place for viewing the city from the water for those who don't sail. Toronto's sci-fi skyline seen from the islands is worth the visit alone. Some of the islands have private homes on them, one has Toronto's downtown airport and one has Centreville, an amusement park for smaller children. Most islands are available for walking, rollerblading, or cycling (bikes can be rented on the islands) throughout the warmer months. Ferries to the islands run every few minutes from the foot of Toronto's main north-south road, Yonge Street.

Toronto's restaurants capture the diversity of the city's population with Chinese, Italian, and Greek cuisine hugely represented and Thai, Japanese, Indian, Caribbean, Hungarian, and German putting in solid appearances. For lunch, any of the Chinese restaurants on Baldwin St or the Tim Hortons chain of coffee shops, Canada's favourite for coffee, work for me. Some areas of Toronto have become synonymous with particular communities. For example, you'll find Greek restaurants all over the city but especially along Danforth St where even the street signs are posted bilingually in English and Greek. Similarly bilingual, the Chinatown area, around Spadina and Dundas St. West, has an unbelievable concentration of authentic shops and restaurants. Little Italy is a collection of restaurants and clothes shops on and around College Street while Little India, with its restaurants and bazaars, is centred on Gerrard St. West. Over time, all the communities migrate out to the suburbs but their jumping off spot in Toronto remains as a spiritual home from home.

Toronto is the world's third largets theatre centre and its many theatres provide productions for all tastes, including all the big Broadway and West End shows. The theatres, along with the Art Gallery of Ontario and Royal Ontario Museum, are mainly within walking distance, or a short cab ride, of the downtown hotels.

The city's most famous landmark is the CN Tower. It stands, at 1815 feet (553.3m) high, head and shoulders above the other downtown buildings. Over thirty years old, it has only recently been surpassed as the world's tallest building. Elevators take you to the Tower's observation decks at the 1122 feet (342m) level for the 'glass floor' and outdoor deck, 1136 feet (346m) for the Café and indoor deck, and 1150 feet (351m) for the 360 restaurant. If you want an even better view, a further elevator takes you to the Skypod, the world's highest public observation deck at 1465 feet (447m).

As you'd expect, winter plays a big part in Toronto life, from the Santa Claus Parade in November, the ice sculptures and outdoor skating rink at New City Hall starting around New Year, to the underground city linking all the downtown buildings by passageways and shopping plazas. The underground city keeps Torontonians away from winter's icy blast and, at around 27 kilometres of corridors, is so big it has to have its own street map -- PATH. Underground tunnels may not sound enticing but these are bright and airy, more upscale mall than earthy burrow.

In its two centuries of existence Toronto has been called 'Muddy York', 'Hogtown', and 'The Good'. None of these labels were intended to be flattering. Today it doesn't really have a nickname, perhaps because we haven't yet come to terms with how 'good' it really is.

Romantic Dinner Ideas

Here my suggestion for romantic dinner.

If the food inside or outside, some simple changes can transform a typical meal in a romantic nakakaharap. If you are celebrating a day just want to show your partner you care by planning a romantic dinner is a great way to start a night together.

Romantic dinner ideas # 1 - lighting is essential

Nothing says romance like the lights low. If you eat out, choose a restaurant with low lighting and candles. If you are dining at home, to set the mood by lowering the lights and the creation of their own candles. Soft background music is perfect for a dinner setting.

Romantic dinner ideas # 2 - change the setting

Romance is sparked by the unexpected. Instead of eating in a normal setting, such as a house or a restaurant, order your food to go and take it to a special place. Eat kiosk in your favorite park or the roof of a building downtown. Change of scenery will spark romantic feelings and help you feel less rushed as you eat your food. If possible, choose a location that is significant for two of you, like where you first met.

Romantic dinner ideas # 4 - change the decor

Flowers really make a "normal" most romantic meal. If you plan to go through the trouble to put flowers, taking in account is far from the rose Petals, scattering on the floor are some of you have eaten. After some scatter table and loved one in his seat. If you eat at home, get some or satin drapes and covers some of the most romantic things like TV or stereo, to add ambience to the room. When you add the garnish, hear colors. Deep colors, especially reds, are very romantic. By making simple changes, our "normal" for a romantic dinner can be an event.

When it comes to some hot vacation Toronto, people think, but with everything there to see and do in this wonderful city, it will not be long before he was l 'one of the best holiday regions of the world.

Before you decide on another issue too hot at this year's trip, take a look at some of the incredible things that the City of Toronto has to offer, are "not a must" to leave the spot:

After the time of year you choose, visit May in a position to make a holiday theme cruises, such as a Halloween costume or in part to an incredible fireworks display on Independence Day, or the whole year, romantic, semi-private dinner cruises with the staff and a kitchen world.

This is not only the best museum in all of Canada, which is probably the best museum in the world. You can literally your entire week at the Science Center in Ontario, and not based on the experiences of all Märchenland learning has to offer.

If shopping is your passion, the Eaton absolutely not miss. The Eaton Center is more than three hundred shops and restaurants and homes of almost twenty cinemas and a luxury hotel. As the center of the science is without a doubt the best museum in the world, the Eaton Center is without a doubt the best in the world experiences Warehouse.

There are really so many incredible things you can do in the city of Toronto that you ever try to summarize the experience with a few "must see" displays.
